ChoicePoint gets perfect score on GLBT listing

ChoicePoint Inc. scored a perfect 100 percent on its treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors for the sixth consecutive year.

"At ChoicePoint, what makes us different makes us strong. This belief is a reflection of the company culture and personality," said Derek V. Smith, ChoicePoint chairman and CEO, in a news release. "We offer our associates the opportunity to grow and thrive through multiple affinity groups, outreach activities and other benefits, and we know that diversity makes for a richer and more productive work environment here at ChoicePoint.”

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation rates 583 companies on a scale of 0 to 100, and on Tuesday said 259 received a perfect score. That’s up from 195 last year. The Washington, D.C.-based organization has been tracking how gay-friendly corporate America is since 2002.

Ten other companies from Georgia made the list as well: Alston & Bird LLP, The Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO), Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (NYSE: CCE), Cox Enterprises Inc., ING North America Insurance Corp., Newell Rubbermaid Inc. (NYSE: NWL), Powell Goldstein LLP, SunTrust Banks Inc. (NYSE: STI), Troutman Sanders LLP and United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE: UPS).
